Beachwalk Resort by Pininfarina

By Angela Betancourt Photography Courtesy of Beachwalk Resort This spring, Hallandale Beach was cast into the spotlight with the arrival of the stylish new Beachwalk Resort. The new hospitality gem is the first major development in several years and is being credited for spearheading resurgence in the city. Located at 2602 E. Hallandale Beach Blvd, the 33-story $150 million dollar condo-hotel property is the brainchild of Miami mega developers Jorge Pérez and The Related Group. The European-style resort is located right on the Intracoastal Waterway and boasts 300 family friendly suites, of which 216 of them are two bedroom suites that can be divided into separate rooms. Italian design company Pininfarina and architecture firm Cohen Freedman Encinosa, were tapped to bring this project to life. The results were interiors with Italian furnishings, floor to ceiling windows, fully equipped kitchens, and oversized balconies. Original works of art from the Collection of Jorge Pérez, patron of the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), can also be found in the hotel. Upscale amenities and sophisticated technology such as smart LED televisions, Wi-Fi, and high speed internet are some of the additional offerings. When it comes to activities and recreation, Beachwalk takes things very seriously. The hotel boasts a fitness center, an infinity edge pool overlooking the Intracoastal and complimentary bicycles for city touring. Beyond the hotel’s beauty, service, and amenities another part of the Beachwalk experience is exploring Hallandale Beach and all of the attractions surrounding the city. The hotel provides a convenient and complimentary, electric cart shuttle that transports guests to the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk, Gulfstream Park Racetrack and Casino, and Aventura Mall. For more relaxed fun in the sun, guests also have access to the resort’s Beach Club where they will receive complimentary towels, chairs, and umbrellas. With so much to do it’s not hard to work up an appetite and the Beachwalk has made sure to give guests savory dining choices. The Beachwalk Bistro & Market, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, is one of several feasting options. At this particular eatery, menu items include Cumin Dusted Chicken Burger with Anaheim chili, jack cheese and cilantro mayo on toasted whole wheat bun; and Green Chili Seafood Enchiladas served with Roasted Corn and Black Beans Salsa. The resort’s Beachwalk Bar features crafted cocktails and locally brewed beers among other libations. The Pool Grill offers guests perfect poolside treats including grilled skewers such as their Chorizo and Picked Jalapeno Skewers with an avocado ginger cream and many other savory options. When time is of the essence, the resort’s Marketplace within the Beachwalk Bistro, prepares delicious quick grab and go options throughout the day. If cooking is your preference, Beachwalk provides a grocery delivery service. Per the guest’srequest, the hotel will go grocery shopping for you (at guest expense) and deliver the items to your kitchen before you arrive. To ensure guest satisfaction and smooth hotel operations, The Related Group partnered with Gemstones Hotels & Resorts, a full-service hotel management company based in Park City, Utah to oversee the property. Gemstone is calling it “your suburban utopia” but for the city, Beachwalk is so much more; it’s the start of a new Hallandale Beach. Beachwalk Resort is located at 2602 E Hallandale Beach Blvd, Hallandale Beach, FL 33009 For more information or to make reservations, please visit www.BeachwalkResortFL.com Click here to view this post in the July/August digital issue. Nordstrom Spring Beauty Trend Show at Aventura Mall

By Gisel Habibnejad Aventura Mall’s Nordstrom celebrated spring the best way possible with The Nordstrom Spring Beauty Trend Show. They invited Miamians and local beauty lovers to experience their products like never before with exclusive access to presentations featuring highly knowledgeable brand and beauty experts accompanied with demonstrations of the quality of their products. Learning the history behind all these brands and unique products allows customers to get a first hand look at their details in a special and exciting way. The beauty trends discussed for spring ranged from eye shadow colors to lipstick. For lids, an ashy light purple makes any eye color pop, especially with a touch of shimmer. For lips, a red-orange color is perfect for the spring/summer months and also adds chicness to your look. For daytime, this color can work alone with some mascara. For night, heavy eye makeup, such as a smokey eye or winged eye liner, can complete your evening look. Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyebrow brand trusted by the stars, Anastasia Beverly Hills, explained what makes their technique different from others and why they trump all types of eyebrow shaping methods – even threading! First, they measure your ideal eyebrow according to your bone structure and your desired thickness. Then, they draw in how your brows should look. Finally, they wax any excess hairs outside of your new circumference. They offer amazing products such as the Advanced Brow Enhancing Serum to help stimulate growth of hairs in areas where you lack the growth to shape your brow perfectly. The best part is, of course, their type of wax. It really doesn’t hurt or pull on your skin as much as other wax does! Bond No. 9 Bond No. 9 is not just any perfume brand. This luxury boutique brand is only sold in Saks 5th Avenue stores across the country. However, the Nordstrom in Aventura Mall is the only Nordstrom in the Southeast to carry this lovely brand of perfume and cologne. The presentation given by their specialists is outstanding as they take you through the neighborhoods of New York. The founder, Laurice Rahme, broke away from her previous job to create a line of perfumes dedicated to New York. The line consists of scents dedicated to Brooklyn, Manhattan, Andy Warhol Silver Factory, Madison Square Park, and more. Each bottle is beautifully decorated and the scent is inspired by its corresponding city. This week, they are launching the Park Avenue South perfume which is predicted to become a best-seller. Speaking of best-sellers, their most popular are The Scent of Peace for her and their Bond No. 9 Signature fragrance. Amore Pacific Probably one of the best skincare lines out there – Amore Pacific – is all natural and bases most of their products on Green Tea Leaves and Bamboo tree. Their products are fragrance free which allow you to smell the natural ingredients further proving the naturalness found in the creams and facial washes. Not only this, but some of the products’ difference can be seen in their physicality and textures. For instance, most exfoliators contain beads which scratch your face when scrubbed. Their version of an exfoliator, Treatment Enzyme Peel, actually starts off as a powder – yes, powder. When you twist the top of the bottle open, the precise amount of powder is released, then add water to gently exfoliate your face. Because each amount is previously measured precisely, scientists were able to calculate the exact timespan of each bottle which is one year if used once a day. Another unique and appreciated detail attributed to this brand is that scientists do not release a product unless 100% of the 200 testers provide great reviews of the product. Chanel The brand name already speaks for itself. People everywhere (fashionista or not) know this brand and automatically think of top of the line, class, and always in style. This is also true about their beauty products. The brand began its beauty line with a perfume known as Chanel No. 5. Ever since then, it became a staple in the beauty world. Their foundation, Vitalumiere Aqua, mirrors this perfectly as the quality can be seen and felt in its texture. The light formula glides on smoothly leaving the face to appear smooth. This product definitely does not require a filter! For more information, please visit http://www.aventuramall.com/department-stores/item/nordstrom.html

Celebrating DVF’s The Woman I Wanted to Be

By Katie Jackson Many wish they could peek into the minds of those who have found true happiness and success, hoping to come to understand the pathway in which they earned their desired goals. But to be offered a glimpse into the life of a woman who is not only brilliantly successful and heavily admired, but is also kind, genuine, and immensely passionate, is a true rarity. Diane von Furstenberg gave those who not only adore her designs, but those who adore and admire her, the chance to understand exactly how she became the woman she wanted to be. Even better, the legendary designer made sure to come and celebrate her tome during Art Basel right here in the Magic City. In her memoir, the woman responsible for creating the beloved wrap dress delves into detail about her journey to becoming one of the most respected forces in the fashion industry. Included in The Woman I Wanted to Be are also intimate details about von Furstenberg’s love life, children, how she overcame cancer, and her feelings about aging. “In a sense I feel more beautiful than I have ever felt because my life is full, my children and grandchildren are my pride, and so is the body of my work. I have traveled the world, seen so much beauty in nature, met so many people. I cannot pretend that I am younger than I am, and truly I feel that I have lived so fully that I should be twice my age.” Already a best seller, The Woman I Wanted to Be has garnered an extensive amount of attention. And despite her busy schedule—shooting her “E!” reality show “House of DVF” included—von Furstenberg headed to Miami during Art Basel to celebrate with those who fell in love with her story. With cameras in tow, the designer made a stop at Books & Books in Bal Harbour Shops on December 2nd for a discussion led by entertainment journalist Ana Remos. The very next night, von Furstenberg signed copies of her book in her Aventura Mall boutique. Packed to the brim, the designer’s pop up was filled with attendees sipping champagne and enjoying hors de ‘oeuvres while patiently waiting to have a moment with the legend. With The Woman I Wanted to Be, readers will walk away with truly remarkable wisdom from the woman who not only created an empire, but also created a platform that truly empowers women everywhere.
