Aerin Lauder: The Face Behind the Global Beauty, Home Décor, & Fashion Accessories Brand

By Gisel Habibnejad Being the granddaughter of legendary beauty icon Estée Lauder has its benefits no doubt. One of these includes being blessed with the creative touch needed to become a beauty maven in this industry. Aerin Lauder has demonstrated such talent through her global luxury lifestyle brand, AERIN. Furthermore, she has cultivated her talent in home décor, fashion accessories, philanthropy, and beauty. Aerin recently released her latest fragrance collection, Rose de Grasse which embodies the scent of roses—specifically Rose Centifolia, Rose Otto Bulgarian, and Rose Absolute. “I’ve always been inspired by the pure beauty and timelessness of roses. When conceiving the new Rose de Grasse perfume, we wanted the fragrance to be ultra-feminine and light,” shares the mother of two. The New Yorker takes her fragrance collections seriously, going through a detailed process and ensuring she is active every step of the way. “It always starts with an image in my mind – what I want to say in that fragrance and what notes I think will express that. But that’s only the beginning.” The next step includes working closely with the perfumers until she finds the right scent to translate her message. “I obsess over every little detail – I think it’s a family trait.” Of the products offered by her collection, Aerin’s favorite is the Rose de Grasse Parfum, “It’s the perfect combination of my favorite roses in a light beautiful scent. I like to spray it in my hairbrush before I brush my hair.” Aerin also has a knack for designing home décor pieces and accessories. From candles to lamps, pillows, and much more, you can find collective accents made with you in mind. Whether you’re looking for a classic or modern look, AERIN has a desirable piece for you. By adding candles to her fragrance collection, Aerin combines two of her loves in one, “Candles can instantly transform the feeling of a space. This season I’ll be lighting the AERIN Beauty Rose de Grasse Candle for guests.” A tip Aerin carries with her everywhere comes from her late grandmother, “‘You only have one face, take care of it.’ Skincare is so important. I always wear sunscreen and I invest in high-quality products that help protect and repair my skin.” Her favorite skincare product from Estée Lauder is the Advanced Night Repair. You can get to know Aerin personally through her brand accessories; each piece is mirrored by her passions. Art Deco Living & South Beach Urban Pedestrian Lifestyle Unite

Where else in the world can you find a single family home of contributing architectural significance in a quiet residential enclave yet right next to the fun of South Beach? The answer is nowhere! OPEN HOUSE Sunday, February, 28th 12-4pm Property Details: 1711 Michigan Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139 MLS # A10013457 3 Bedrooms / 3.5 Baths 2,267 SF Offered at $1,895,000 For more information visit http://bit.ly/1711MichiganAve-SoBe Take a step back in time in this authentic Mediterranean Art Deco home in the center of all that South Beach has to offer today. Located in the historic, tree lined Palm View residential neighborhood – an oasis just one block to Lincoln Road and within easy walking distance to the beach, New World symphony, movies and dynamic Sunset Harbour. This is a rare opportunity to lead an urban pedestrian lifestyle while enjoying the comforts and privacy of a single family home. The Palm View Historic District location is truly unique. The Palm View district is associated with the earliest pioneers of Miami Beach, Carl Fisher and John Collins. Fisher created the subdivision in 1920 and developed it with the intention of providing some of the finest private residences of the era. Collins was responsible for the oldest structure within this historic district, the Collins Canal, which enabled Collins to transport his produce from the groves to Biscayne Bay. Palm View is also associated with internationally recognized American artist, Henry Salem Hubbell, who resided in the area from 1926-1940. While Palm View is steeped in a wide array of historical significance, there is none more prominent than the rich display of architecture evident throughout the district. There are 10 architectural styles represented, ranging from Masonry Vernacular to Mediterranean Revival and Med/Deco Transitional to Streamline Moderne, then evolving into the Post WW II Modern styles. Mediterranean Revival is the style with the most significant concentration in the area as it was highly fashionable during the city’s booming land development period. Many master architects are represented including Schultze and Weaver, Pancoast, Hohauser, Schoeppl, Skinner and Robert E. Collins. Built in 1946, this meticulously preserved home embodies the optimism that was a profound part of the Art Deco period in Miami Beach. Enter the home through a charming rotunda foyer that flows into the ample living room with vaulted ceiling featuring original moldings and fireplace. The dining room showcases recessed lighting which was considered one of the most luxurious features available in a home at that time. Throughout the home are beautiful original Terrazzo floors and original wood flooring in the bedrooms. The bedrooms are very spacious with bay windows allowing for ample natural light and each includes a bathroom en suite. In the bathrooms are hand painted and signed original murals of native Florida wildlife creating a one-of-a-kind retreat within the home. The expansive kitchen with high ceilings has a pantry and closet for ample storage, and space for a breakfast table. The family room leads to a Florida room with access to a unique native garden with exotic fruit trees designed to attract birds and several varieties of butterflies. The garage has been converted to a studio with a bathroom, fashioning a private area for your guests. The property is zoned RM1 multi-family which permits an additional structure, if so desired.

Martini Shake Off at the Raleigh Hotel

By Alyse Mier The Raleigh Hotel in Miami Beach hosted its monthly Cocktail Shake Off on February 5th. Guests sampled a variety of specialty cocktails and voted for their preferred drink. The cocktail with the most votes will be featured in the Martini Bar’s menu for the month of February. This month’s competition featured Famous Grouse, a medium full flavored whiskey with notes of oak, sherry and citrus that played a central part in many of the cocktails. Stephen Wicker, the bartender, blended unique ingredients such as egg whites, bitters, coconut demerara and almond milk into the rich amber cocktails, which left guests ordering full sizes of their favorite sample. The winner and our personal favorite was the Scotchtail, a refreshing, light amber libation made up of Famous Grouse Scotch, coconut demerara, agave nectar, lemon juice and orange bitters. Shake off this winter weather at the Raleigh Hotel’s Martini Bar. For more information, please visit www.raleighhotel.com
