Ballet Flamenco La Rosa Debuting Two New Works of Original Flamenco

Miamians have been granted the opportunity to experience two new original pieces of Flamenco in its purest form at the Colony Theater in Miami Beach by Ballet Flamenco La Rosa. The first, Al Grano, will premiere on May 20th at 8:00pm. Attendees can expect rhythms ranging from “dramatic, soulful, joyous, and sensual moods with exquisite vocals, electrifying footwork, and all of the grace and beauty that has made Flamenco so loved by audiences throughout the world.” The debut of the second work, La Gaviota, will showcase on May 21st at 8:00pm. With its dancers hailing from Spain (Pepe Flores, La Popi, Eloy Aguilar) and Russia (Lucia la Rusa) with vocals by Alicia Morales and guitar by Israel Heredia the performance is guaranteed to leave its spectators in awe. The original Flamenco Ballet is by Ilisa Rosal, inspired by the famous play The Seagull by Chekhov. Carnival Season is in Full Swing!

By Dawn Wilson Since Carnival is in full swing, we decided to mention the things that are commonly found at Carnival festivals in the Caribbean and in North America. J’Ouvert: This is the pre-carnival parade, which kicks off Carnival. Music: The music that is commonly played during the festival is Dancehall, Zouk and Calypso. Mas: This is the big parade that takes place on Carnival Tuesday! Top Caribbean Carnivals in the Caribbean: Cayman Islands (May) Although the Cayman Islands Carnival festival isn’t as old as some of the others, it has become widely popular in a short amount of time. It began as a way to celebrate the history of its African residents, along with the mix of other cultures, who now call the Cayman Islands home. St. Vincent & The Grenadines (June/July) What you can expect to see when you attend here is steel pan performers, J’Ouvert (pre-carnival party parade), a beauty pageant, and more. The dancing is infectious, so make sure you get plenty of rest and bring comfortable shoes. There is a good chance that other partiers won’t let you leave, you’ll be dancing until the sun comes up. Top Caribbean Carnivals in North America: Toronto (July) This is said to be the largest of its kind in North America. It attracts over a million visitors yearly. Like the festivals held in the Caribbean islands, you can still expect to see band performances, extravagant parades, interesting costumes, lots of dancing and music. Miami (October) If you are looking for something fun and exciting to do during Columbus Day weekend, stay in Miami for our annual Caribbean Carnival festival, One Carnival. It is a celebration of the Caribbean culture, art heritage and traditions. There are masquerade balls, parades and plenty of cuisine represented by the many islands of the Caribbean.

Fresh is Better: Healthy Eating Made Simple

By Gisel Habibnejad In Miami, living busy lives with fast-paced schedules leave little room for healthy meals due to time constraints. Fresh is Better has developed the ultimate solution for this—a daily gourmet meal delivery system that guarantees flavorful healthy options. The company is dedicated to making your life easier by providing convenient options from its delivery style to ready-to-eat meals. Not only this, their never-frozen philosophy stays true to customers: “We believe in living in a sustainable way, so wherever possible our fresh fruits and vegetables are grown locally and without the use of pesticides. The lean protein is hormone and antibiotic free, the fresh seafood is mostly caught right in the Florida waters, and even our compostable delivery containers were chosen with an eye to our responsibilities to the environment.” So how do you get started? You begin by choosing your preferred meal plan (Traditional, Paleo, Vegetarian, or Gluten-free). Next, select how many meals you wish to receive daily (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and two snacks). You can also pick between three meal sizes (trim, lifestyle, or pro) and indicate if you have any food allergies. And finally, your daily meals will be quietly dropped off at your doorstep sometime in the night. Each morning, you will be greeted with a cooler filled with ice bricks and your meals for the day. The cooler bags also come with your daily menu explaining each meal from the ingredients to the calories. These bags are so efficient; you can take them with you to work, run errands, etc. It’s impossible for you to ever get bored of the meals, as each day’s meals are completely different from the day before. FIB has one main goal—to satisfy your taste buds in a healthy manner through convenient delivery! For more information, please visit www.fibdelivery.com

Paint the Town Red: Miami Being Well-Fed

By Justina Coronel Red, The Steakhouse has created a secret menu with multiple items ranging from appetizers to desserts. Executive Chef, Peter Vauthy, formed an amazing menu that features only the finest Certified Angus Beef Prime with every food item being made from scratch. Vauthy said that he had to limit the original menu but if anyone asked for any of the items off the secret menu that they would be able to whip it up as well. The appetizers entailed five different choices but the flash fried lobster tail and the king crab cake with corn salsa stole the show and our taste buds. With the entrees, the 28 Day Dry Certified Angus Beef Prime King Crab Crusted Tomahawk and the Certified Angus Beef “Prime Rib” were worthwhile with every single bite. To tie it together, the sides were the perfect combination including the mac n cheese flight, which featured a Bacon Mac, a King Crab Mac, and a White Truffle Mac. With all these multiple food options, the secret’s out and each item is delicious, there is not one single doubt. For more information, please visit www.redthesteakhouse.com
