My Miami: On Brexit Poll Day, Wall Street Expert Larissa Posner…

Photo by Lars Gerhardt Photography By Nadja Atwal On Brexit Poll Day, Wall Street Expert Larissa Posner Was Grateful We Gave Her A Break From Market Prognosis and Instead Picked Her Brain About Miami. On her last business trip, Larissa Posner visited seven cities in five days, meeting with fund managers, investment advisors, private bankers, and high net worth individuals, often consulting in light of the uncertainty of Brexit and other issues facing the world markets. Guiding asset allocation, both domestically and abroad is her métier. As often the custom, they all wanted to discuss their financial futures over a meal. Fitting thirteen lunches into five days is a highly improbable hat trick, but Larissa states that with flexible schedules, a large appetite and a pair of sneakers it was completely doable and she considers that a slow week. This high octane, force of nature, has been killing it on Wall Street for nearly decade. Not often does an international fashion model go from the runway to corporate hallways, but Larissa wanted to take control of her earnings and soundly invest without being reliant on others. After studying portfolio construction, quantitative analysis, economic theory, and risk management, Larissa passed her Series 65 and took a job at a large Greenwich, Connecticut Hedge Fund where she quickly assumed a vice-president role in the company. From that point on there’s been no turning back for Larissa. Consulting in Corporate Access for the past four years, Larissa has also found time to create an Investment Advisor firm with feet planted in both ends of the spectrum. With fundamental strategies and analysis, a team devoted to machine learning research, and tax-efficient wealth planning, Larissa’s days go deep into the night. When she’s not in the office, in transit, or on the phone, Larissa enjoys hosting dinners for friends and family and hanging out in her vegetable garden. In short, this woman is on the move and loves Miami for both business and pleasure. We founded to find out more… 1.) When in Miami you may catch me… At one of my favorite locales, the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. The entire place is intricately designed to transport you to another world. When I’m not in the mood for the hustle and bustle of the city, this is my comfort zone. You don’t have to cross the pond to experience 17th and 18th century France and Italy. 2.) The biggest misconception about Miami is… Miami is only for good for Spring Breakers, partygoers and plastic surgeons. The city is so far from that! Miami is a cultural microcosm teeming with events for all walks of life. From South of Spice to the World Golf Championship and Coconut Grove Arts Festival, the city really does cater to entrepreneurs, socialites and families alike. 3.) The last restaurant I enjoyed in Miami was… Los Fuegos at Faena Hotel. As someone who cooks myself, I love to discover sophisticated flavors. I wish I could learn Chef Mallman’s secret to the grilled octopus and Kurobuta pork belly there. Scrumptious! The food and decor transport me to Argentina every time. 4.) What surprised me about Miami… It’s as much a financial hub as it is an epicenter of diversity. A business luncheon at Juvia isn’t “work” when I can talk shop, have an amazing lunch, grab a quick confection at Dylan’s, peruse art at Peter Lik’s and finish the day with a performance at New World Symphony that evening. In Miami, business IS pleasure. 5.) Best reason to return to Miami aside from the weather? Miami is the place where the crème de la crème of the culinary universe converge. It’s the desired hot spot for extensions of some of my favorite international restaurants–Koya, Zuma, Milos and Hakasan, to name a few. Plus, The Food TV Network’s Wine and Food Festival brings together the “who’s who” of the culinary world to Miami for an unbelievable weekend each February. The city is a chef’s paradise and a virtual dreamland for epicures like myself. 6.) First time I became really curious about Miami was… When I heard about the Miami City Ballet Company’s Underwater Ballet! If I wasn’t sure Miami was a trendsetter before, I certainly knew after seeing that. Traveling around the world, I’ve seen some beautiful performances, but this one is stellar. It’s an unforgettable experience that had me longing for all the innovative adventures Miami has to offer. 7. ) What happens in Miami stays in Miami…and our magazine. Any secret or funny moment you’d like to share about you and this city? On one trip to Wynwood, I stopped at a gallery to peruse what was on display. I noticed a black and white still-life photography exhibit of rocks. I’d say it was “common chic”, if you catch my drift. Anyway, as I walked toward the exit, I saw a framed photo of the most precious, full-of-life, happy-go-lucky dog. I was staring and smiling at the adorable photo when another viewer approached me and asked what I thought about the exhibit. I replied, “I love it! It’s so cute and full of life; I just want to take that dog home and cuddle with him!” Well, it turned out that the stranger was the actual artist. He glared at me and mumbled through his teeth, “I traveled around the globe with the most technologically-advanced camera and light equipment and a crew of five assistants, walked through canyons, climbed up mountains and crossed streams to get perfect shots of these magnificent stones…and you stand in awe of my Labrador Retriever photo that I snapped with my iPhone. Thanks.” I felt so bad, but honesty is the best policy, right??

BloggerBuzz: Hugueth Galo on Best Foundation For Your Skin Type

Photo Credit: UrbaneWomen.com By Hugueth Galo/Beauty & Fashion Blogger If there is one thing that simply does not look cute it’s spotty, caked up make up. The number one reason this happens is because you’re not using the right foundation for your skin type. But don’t give up just yet! I have taken it upon myself to try out different foundations on different skin types to help you find the one to give you flawless coverage all day. Normal Skin Having a normal skin type means that your face will not get too oily or too dry. If you’re lucky enough to have this skin type, your biggest concern is using a foundation that will give you flawless skin. Make Up Forever Ultra HD Foundation leaves the face looking air brushed. The formula is buildable to give you full coverage while still looking like your own skin. Photo Credit: Make Up Forever Cosmetics Website Combination Skin Does your skin get oily around your nose and forehead while at the same time dry in your cheeks and upper lip? If so, then your combination skin is one of the hardest to battle. A water-based foundation would be perfect because it will give you moisture but not oil. It’s important for this foundation to have the ability to build up coverage for dryer areas and keep oily zones on the sheer side. Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea foundation is perfect for this because of it’s lightweight, has the ability for full coverage, and has SPF 15 sunscreen. Photo Credit: Tarte Cosmetics website Dry Skin  Flaky, dry skin requires extra attention to look good all day. Contrary to belief, adding too much oil to your face will just give acne. Your foundation should have a healthy amount of oil and moisture to keep your face looking bright and glowing. Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Foundation gives you that healthy, luminous skin that you crave. Photo Credit: YSL Beauty Website Oily Skin No matter how hot, cold, humid, or normal the weather is, oily skin will show it’s ugly face and ruin your beautiful make up. This is my personal torture, so believe me when I say I feel your pain on this one. Living in Miami, I don’t just worry about my oily skin but also the humidity that triggers the oil. The best foundation for oily skin is one that will not add extra oil but also won’t cake up when your own skin oils release. MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation stays on all day with minimal oiliness. I know powder foundations don’t give as much coverage as liquid foundations but hey, that’s what concealer is for!  Make sure to conceal those places that you don’t want to be seen and add MAC’s powder foundation over your whole face, trust me it works! One on One with Ross Franklin, CEO of Pure Green Juice + Smoothies

By Carolina Rodriguez CEO Ross Franklin of Pure Green from Westchester, New York, speaks to MSM Online about his professional background, challenges and his vision to establish Pure Green to help millions of people get into a healthy lifestyle. Can you reveal to us a childhood experience which influenced your business career, especially your relation with nutrition? I grew up in a Kosher household in Westchester, New York with two younger brothers. From not eating pork products or shellfish, discipline in regards to food selection has been ingrained in me since childhood. However, many of the kosher foods we ate growing up were processed foods including sugar cereals like captain crunch and fruity pebbles. I have certainly come a long way since then. It didn’t occur to me until high school when I was captain of the wrestling team how food impacted athletic performance and mental focus. While on the wrestling team at Hastings High School in New York, the goal was to drop weight to get into the lighter weight class to gain a competitive advantage. This was the start of me realizing how eating clean foods improve performance and improve my cognitive ability with academics. Which person has inspired you throughout your career? Why? I have been fortunate to have had many mentors throughout my professional career. Straight out of college, I was hired as the Fitness Manager at The Sports Center at Chelsea Piers , managing over 50 personal trainers. The General Manager at the time Bill Abramson, took me under his wing and taught me the difference between leadership and management. He showed me the art of managing multiple department heads and how to report performance metrics to the owners. While working as a General Manager at Equinox Fitness, I met Mark Wood, a seasoned entrepreneur who sold his restaurant group for millions. Mark was a master of executing systems and process at a high level and he exposed me to Stephen Covey’s book The Seven Habits of Highly Successful People, took me to Tony Robbin’s live events and had me read dozens of books on leadership. Mark taught be how to build teams, develop people and the science of flawless execution.  How did your initial process to establish Pure Green originate? Could you provide us with a business insight? After starting my own consulting company specializing in opening new gyms, spas and fitness centers all throughout New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, Liquiteria, a juice and smoothie bar in New York City hired me when they only had one location. A new owner bought the company and brought me on to grow the brand. I expanded Liquiteria to 4 locations with each new location more successful than the previous one. I became obsessed with the juice and smoothie business as it allowed me to stay true to my passion for health and wellness and I learned how a single 600 square foot location can make as much revenue as a 30,000 square foot fitness center. I became hooked on the juice and smoothie business and decided to start my own company, Pure Green. What is a recent chief achievement with Pure Green? What are your challenges? My vision is for Pure Green to help millions of people get into a healthy lifestyle which is quite the undertaking. We now have 3 retail locations and we recently launched Pure Green wholesale. The challenge now for Pure Green is how to get into big box retail like Wholefoods, Costco and high traffic malls within every major city in the US. Can you please tell us about a personal good experience with your business? Helping people transition into a healthier lifestyle is what brings me the greatest happiness. When I walk around New York City and see people on the street carrying the lime green canvas Pure Green bags, drinking Pure Green super food smoothies and hearing people rave about Pure Green even when they don’t know I am the owner makes me feel great! How do you divide your time among family, business and Pure Green? It can be difficult to give family and friends the attention they deserve especially when I am so focused on bringing Pure Green to the world. I am blessed to have such supportive family and friends who believe in me and my mission for Pure Green. I have an amazing girlfriend who is totally understanding and knows that all the late nights I spend focused on growing Pure Green will help to make the world healthier… or at least I would like to think so 😉 What is a ‘normal’ day in the life of Ross Franklin? A “normal” day in the life of Ross Franklin includes many supplements, super foods, green juice, bulletproof coffee, brainstorming, strategizing, meetings with Pure Green General Managers, checking on Pure Green retail locations, Pure Green wholesale meetings, meetings with vendors to reduce COGS, researching new products and menu items, looking at new locations, talking with Pure Green guests, keeping the Pure Green team focused on hospitality and making sure everyone is having fun. Would you describe yourself as a spiritual person? If so can you share with us one of your more profound spiritual experiences? Although I rarely discuss this with people, I would consider myself a spiritual person. I find it interesting that many people who start to eat clean, get into cold pressed juice, super food smoothies and make a shift toward a healthier lifestyle become more spiritual. I have delved into Kabbalah, meditation, Qi Gong and a variety of other spiritual practices. I believe in balance and have discovered certain elements from different spiritual practices resonate with me but none that I embrace 100%. Too often, I find people often look to external stimuli to deal with their problems and seek answers from outside sources. After a long personal journey, I have full-circled and have come to learn that by looking inward and relying on your gut, your intuition and taking 100% accountability for your actions, you can learn to “own” yourself and be of greater service to
