Jason of Beverly Hills Opens in the Miami Design District

By Katie Jackson Photography by World Red Eye Since 2002, Jason of Beverly Hills has become the go-to luxury jeweler among Hollywood’s elite. In providing diamond pieces that push limits while also maintaining opulent glamour, the brand has attracted high-profile clients including Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Matthew McConaughey and MSM’s July/August cover model Joanna Krupa. Owner Jason Arasheben has expanded his popular brand from the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, to upscale locations in major cities including the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, the Ritz-Carlton in Charlotte, North Carolina, and now in the heart of the Miami Design District. What began as an appointment-only diamond jeweler quickly grew into a multi-billion dollar operation. “We would design something specific to somebody’s personal style and image, so the DNA of the brand is custom pieces,” said Arasheben. “Then we kind of transcended into building collections.” Drawing inspiration from nature, architecture, fashion, and even cars, the brand’s collections are anything but ordinary. “We like to think out of the box and we like to be eccentric,” said Arasheben. “I always say that this is not your grandmother’s jewelry. If I make a piece and my mother hates it, I say okay, this is perfect.” The brand recently drew attention with their ADDICTED collection, featuring pieces like diamond encrusted pill pendants and syringe rings. “Everyone has an addiction to something,” said Arasheben. “This is an addiction to diamonds.” Though controversial, the collection has become a favorite among notable celebrities. “Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Lindsay Lohan have all purchased pieces from the ADDICTED collection,” said Arasheben. As for the fourth flagship location, Arasheben is thrilled to bring Jason of Beverly Hills to Miami. “The great thing about Miami is that the culture and vibe of the city is very much in line with the identity of our brand,” said Arasheben. “There’s a strong nightlife, people like to have fun, and there are a lot of South Americans who are big fans of our brand, so it was really the perfect alignment.” Jason of Beverly Hills is located at 140 NE 39th St, Miami, FL 33137 For more information on Jason of Beverly Hills, please visit www.jasonofbh.com Click here to view this post in our September/October 2015 digital issue Click here to view the online issue

Rob Scheppy: Shimmery Shadows & Matte Makeup

CELEBRITY MAKEUP ARTIST LAUNCHES ‘TINI BEAUTY SHADOW PALETTE By Gisel Habibnejad Rob Scheppy, makeup artist and hair stylist to the stars, is anything but ordinary when it comes to makeup. He’s behind the show-stopping makeup trends seen on everyone from the Kardashians to Heidi Klum to Mariah Carey, and so much more. What began as small gigs in Miami took him all the way to Los Angeles where he grew his high profile clientele list. Now, women everywhere can finally be blessed with his magical touch by using his latest makeup venture – Rob Scheppy for ‘Tini Beauty Shadow Palette ($39.50). Rob’s love for makeup and beauty products began as a child, “I grew up in a house full of sisters so I was exposed early to makeup and beauty products, and became fascinated.” His first big break came when he was working at a fashion show, where he was approached with the opportunity to work at the 2008 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Miami. At the show, he was also granted the opportunity to do makeup for celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, and Kristin Cavallari. Now, let’s talk about his highly sought after eye shadow palette! Rob Scheppy for ‘Tini Beauty Shadow Palette contains an array of shades that can easily be transformed from day to night, all in one palette. “I wanted a palette of my must-haves as an artist – versatile shades that can be mixed and matched and used in different combinations to create a custom look for any occasion.” What’s his favorite combination of shadows, you ask? Cinnamon-Tini and White Russian. ‘Tini Beauty colors are famously named after cocktails, and this palette is no exception. Rob and the ‘Tini Beauty team researched cocktail names to match each color. Use the matte shades for a daytime look, then switch it up with the shimmery tones for that Hollywood glam nighttime gleam. For summer, his favorite trend is “the warm, subtle shimmer of Rosé Champagne on the lid, on the crease, and along the lash line. Combine this with a dab of Pearl Fizz in the inner corners and brow bones. So easy, fresh, and alluring.” The colors can be used dry, for shadow application and blending; or wet, as an upper lash line eyeliner. To get the best results and use from his palette, he recommends Tweezerman’s shadow brushes to apply and blend the colors when dry. If used as liner, the angled brush works best to get that precise cat-eyed look when wet. Rob has done makeup for a variety of clients and media outlets, such as commercials, major ad campaigns, music videos, TV shows, and more. But, his favorites have to be magazines and weddings, “major magazine covers always make me proud, but being chosen to do clients’ weddings have to be the most meaningful.” His favorite beauty icon is Madonna. He always feels inspired by her trendsetting ways as a risk-taker, re-inventor, and artist. When asked if he would partner up with other beauty brands in the future, he responded positively with: “I love all things makeup, so you never know!” We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this talented artist. The Rob Scheppy for ‘Tini Beauty Shadow Palette is available at tinibeauty.com

Vegan Style: Fashion with Compassion

Photography by Antoine Verglas Gone are the days when vegan fashion was associated with bad taste. Today, many designers prove that faux fur and leather equals high fashion. There are tons of great cruelty-free designers that abstain from using animal’s skin, most notably Stella McCartney. Vivienne West- wood even pledged to the leading animal rights organization, PETA, back in 2007 to never use fur in her collections again. Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Betsey Johnson, and Tommy Hilfiger also joined the trend. And most recently, Inditex Co. (owners of Zara) have pledged to rid their inventory of all Angora rabbit fur. Some designers even go a step further: Vaute Couture, a completely vegan fashion house run by Leanne Maily Hilgart was the first all-vegan designer to show at NYFW 2013. No doubt about it, the new hot stars on design sky are not masters of silk and leather, but pioneers of high-end designs in faux leather and latex, like William Wilde who bedazzles Kim Kardashian, Kylie Minogue, and Beyoncé with his stage costumes and red carpet creations that seem to prove leather to be obsolete. “People want to look good in their fashion items, but not if that means that animals are being harmed and even skinned alive for it,” says Nadja Atwal, a top style-expert on TV who advises fashion brands worldwide and even posed for PETA. “Designers who still feel the need to use fur and leather find themselves more and more in hot waters. Sure, some people will resist any common sense argument and will still demand dead skin on their back to appear ‘rich,’ but more and more shoppers want to make a choice that feels ethically correct.” One of the brightest new stars on the haute couture fashion sky is Jasmin Erbas, whose team creates handmade gowns for the high-end customers from Hollywood to Miami, and from Berlin to Dubai. She is one of those designers who has craved – as she calls it – “good-karma fashion” from the start. After she won the Newcomer Designer Award in Europe, she quickly fooled leather experts with her real-looking vegan leather pieces. “I, thankfully, have many clients who desire fashion that is cruelty-free. It’s a win- win for both sides because it makes a customer even more beautiful and happy while making me more creative.” VEGAN IS CHIC Brands are picking up on the new direction and are now competing for titles like the recently launched PETA Vegan Fashion Award. Additionally, hashtags like #animalrights and #crueltyfree are now top trends on Twitter. A big challenge, however, seems to be finding fashionable shoes and bags that fit the vegan bill. Yes, we applaud fashion with a strong consciousness, but few are willing to compromise their “style.” VeganChic.com seems to present answers to all demands with anything from boots to belts, and wallets to kid’s shoes. At Noah-Shop.com, you will find the beauty of Italian vegan design from microfibre to bamboo, from elegant to casual, and from ballerina flats to key chains. A favorite among vegan-obsessed fashionistas are the ankle boots, pumps, and booties by Cri de Coeur. Andy Warhol once said: “They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.” With so many options to choose from, it’s no wonder vegan fashion is not just a trend anymore, but a change in the fashion world that is meant to stay. Wynwood & Aquarella Swimwear

EXUDE THE ULTIMATE “MIAMI COOL” By Katie Jackson The Wynwood Art District is surely becoming the new epicenter for Miami art and entertainment. Since taking over what used to be a run-down warehouse district, developers and land owners transformed Wynwood into a place that gives artists permission to create fabulous artwork that are showcased on the exterior and interior walls of the buildings within the District. Now with a multitude of art galleries, retails shops, and hot spots for nightlight and the performing arts, Wynwood is the new “it” place in Miami. Visitors can stop at the vegan-friendly Jugofresh or dine at the delicious R House, grab a drink at SHOTS or Wood Tavern all while experiencing some of the most fantastic art displays that Miami has to offer. Wynwood has become such a hot commodity that famous celebrities, models, and designers have all made appearances, even going as far as producing photo shoots and commercials. Beyoncé posted multiple photos of her adventures in the art district on her Instagram account while Kim Kardashian famously fell off of a bike while filming a commercial right in front of one of the graffiti-covered walls. It has even become a new favorite spot for Miami fashion bloggers, who use the gorgeous art-covered walls as backdrops for their latest posts. The collaboration of Aquarella Swimwear and the Wynwood Art District made perfect sense for a photo shoot. Both on the rise, and having a unique take on art and fashion in expression, the art district and swimwear label have a lot in common. Both embody a new, young, artsy-meets-chic attitude, and exude a confident style that is completely captivating the minds of many, if not all, Miamians.
